Celebrating The Evolution of YCS @ 421 East 88th Street

Believe it or not, prior to September 2011, 421 East 88th Street (our current school building), was a high school. It has taken many building upgrades to gradually transform the YCS building into the child-friendly, safe and welcoming environment it is today. These improvements were made possible by very generous funding from the offices of Council members Dan Garodnick and Jessica Lappin.

While our projects are ongoing, to date we have upgraded the children’s bathrooms, carpeted and painted the library, re-tiled classrooms on the 2nd and 5th floors, and padded the yard and gym walls. We have also obtained a grant which will enable us to upgrade the smart boards and fill other technology needs.

In the spirit of the holidays, we want to send our great thanks to Miriam Frieden, parent of a current YCS fourth-grader, who has played a key leadership role in assisting YCS with obtaining the funds.

Happy Holidays!
